What our Italy travel podcast is about
Each episode looks at a different side of Italy. Sometimes we talk about famous places like Rome, Venice, Naples and Lake Como. Other times, we explore ancient ruins, lesser-known towns, food traditions, cultural habits and the small details that make Italy feel so layered.

Our goal is to help you plan better trips and understand Italy more deeply before you arrive. We share practical tips, personal stories and honest observations from our life in Italy, along with the travel knowledge we’ve built over many years of visiting, researching and exploring the country.

Meet your hosts
We moved from Canada to Italy in 2022 and now live in Chieti, a historic town in Abruzzo. Italy has been part of our lives long before we moved here. We had already spent years travelling through the country, learning its history, returning to favourite places and building the kind of knowledge that comes from both research and real experience.
Kasia Chojecki is a travel writer, podcast producer and the voice behind much of the research and planning for Amongst Romans. She brings a traveller’s eye to Italy, with a focus on practical advice, cultural context, history, architecture and the details that help visitors make sense of a place. Her work is shaped by years of travel writing and by living in Italy after first knowing it as a frequent visitor.

Alex Colella is our in-house Italian expert. His family is from Italy, and he spent his childhood summers here, surrounded by Italian language, food, traditions and daily life. He brings family stories, cultural insight and a more personal connection to the podcast, helping explain the customs, habits and local details that travellers often notice but do not always understand.
Together, we bring a mix of travel expertise, lived experience and personal connection to Italy. We want the podcast to help you travel with more context, ask better questions and see Italy as more than a list of famous sights.
